Getting here

Calhoun County is a peninsula. To get here, you cross a river. Two ferries do the job.
Brussels Ferry (from Grafton)
Operated by IDOT. Free. Crosses the Illinois River from Grafton to the Brussels side. About a 5-minute crossing. Runs daylight hours, weather permitting. IDOT ferry info.
Golden Eagle Ferry (from Missouri)
Crosses the Mississippi from St. Charles County, Missouri to the Calhoun side. Runs daylight hours, weather permitting. There is a fee — check current schedule and rates by phone before you go.
Either way, once you’re across the river, follow Illinois River Road north to Brussels. The orchard is at 3879 Illinois River Road. Hard to miss.
Roll the window down on the ferry. The kids will love it.
Before you come
Things worth knowing.
What’s in season right now?
It depends on the month. July: peaches and blackberries. August: peaches. September: apples come in. October: apples and pumpkins, plus the corn pit and wagon rides. See the chalkboard on the homepage for the current week, or call us at 618-883-2385.
Do I need to reserve anything?
For walk-in shopping, no. For a weekend pie or a flat of blackberries, yes — call by Friday. For bus tours and school field trips, definitely call ahead.
Cash or card?
Both. Same price either way.
How long is the drive from St. Louis?
About an hour from downtown St. Louis once you account for the ferry crossing. About 75–90 minutes from west St. Louis County. The ferry crossing takes about 5 minutes itself, plus wait time.
Are the ferries always running?
Both ferries run daylight hours, weather and river conditions permitting. High water can shut them down. Brussels Ferry (IDOT) is free; Golden Eagle Ferry charges a per-vehicle fee.
Should we bring anything?
A cooler if you’re buying a lot. A wagon if you’re bringing little kids. Cash is convenient but not required. We have parking on-site.
Are dogs allowed?
Friendly leashed dogs are welcome outside. Inside the storefront, service animals only.
What months are you open?
July through the end of October. Closed November through June. Hours during the season: Mon 12–5, Tue–Sat 10–5, Sun 11–5.
